Samina Baig
Psychotherapist
Samina works from a humanistic perspective supporting each individual’s ability to become more self-aware and to transform states of mind and embodied patterns of behaviour which no longer work for them. This gives clients the opportunity to develop alternative and more productive ways of being present in their relationship with themselves and others.
Samina uses a variety of psychological, visual and body-oriented clinical skills in her work. As well as talking therapy, she uses drawing, writing and role play to facilitate self-expression and to provide clients with a deeper understanding of what they are going through while helping them to learn how to manage and regulate themselves better.
After studying Social Psychology at university, Samina trained as a journalist and worked in factual television and drama scriptwriting for over two decades. With a strong interest in the workings of character and human potential, it seemed a natural step for her to further explore ways of working with people.
In 2003, Samina came to Spectrum for her own personal development work and continued to train professionally with the organisation in counselling and psychotherapy. She has worked in private practice since 2014 and works with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds
