Mike Wibberley

Psychotherapist
Spectrum Studio Director

Mike aims to create a space in which we can explore our relationship to ourself, and how we want to be present in our life. As we explore the present, past experiences are remembered: experiences surface which, when explored, open possibilities to re-form or change what is not working for us. People engage in psychotherapy for specific psychological or relationship problems. Many people also come to therapy to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, build interpersonal skills, and enhance their own wellbeing.

Mike studied social science at university, and Humanistic Psychology in the UK. Mike began practising as a therapist in 1972, and began working at Spectrum in 1995. His formal psychotherapy training was at the Minster Centre and he continued with training courses at Spectrum from 1987 to 2020. He continues to participate in personal and professional development opportunities.

As well as working with individuals Mike runs a mixed-gender ongoing therapy group, and an ongoing group for men at Spectrum Studio Highgate, and has been a member of the Spectrum Men for Men Programme since 1992.

Mike leads Wilderness Trails in South Africa of seven-day immersion in the bush, followed by a three-day group workshop. This offers an opportunity, unique for most people, to make a direct, intimate contact with nature, and also as we journey through Wild Land to make similar contact with our own inner nature. The workshop helps to integrate these experiences.
